Sennheiser Headquarters

Corporate Office Design

In a former industrial building in Shanghai, our studio was commissioned to design the headquarters for Sennheiser, the historic German audio brand. Long before coworking spaces became a trend, the project embraced a pioneering design: an open, fluid space that would foster human interaction and teamwork in a context like China’s, where such dynamics were not yet commonplace.

The project was intended to reflect the company’s values: quality, precision, and authenticity. To achieve this, the decision was made to preserve the building’s original structure and combine it with warm materials that would lend a sense of comfort and sophistication. Walnut wood was key to enhancing the atmosphere and conveying the excellence associated with the German brand, while the black acoustic panels were incorporated as both a functional covering and a direct nod to recording studios.

The space is organized around large communal tables, movable furniture, and multipurpose areas that encourage collaboration. The reception area and support spaces round out a design that not only serves a functional purpose but also creates a spatial narrative: an ongoing dialogue between the past and the present, between the industrial and the human, and between the technical and the sensory.

The result is an open, modern, and welcoming workplace that embodies the essence of the brand. An office that was pioneering in its time and that, even today, continues to convey innovation, teamwork, and human connection through its design.
