's Contemporary Restaurant Design in Shanghai

Located in the vibrant Xintiandi district, The Refinery reinterprets Shanghai’s Shikumen architecture with a timeless, warm, and inviting gastropub concept. The space combines earthy tones, reclaimed wood, hand-carved stone, and metallic accents to create a distinctive and social atmosphere.

Every element was custom-designed: from the Corten steel partitions that evoke the artisanal beer-making process to the spatial layout that encourages social interaction on different scales, from the central bar to intimate nooks.
