Interior Design, Hospitality, and Wellness by Day in Barcelona

Vértigo Vida is a day center located in Barcelona, created to support people struggling with addiction or emotional instability. The project stems from its founder’s desire to provide a safe place where clients can regain stability in their lives. At Escabeche Studio, we approached the project by transforming an open-plan space into a welcoming, functional, and serene environment capable of supporting this mission on a day-to-day basis. 

The starting point for the design was a preliminary conceptual process that defined the meaning of the space before any formal decisions were made. Based on conversations with the client, the project was structured around the idea of a threshold: the moment when a person decides to move from a state of silence to another where they can express themselves, share, and begin to heal.

This concept guided the spatial layout, the design, and the overall atmosphere of the center, with the goal of creating a place where people feel safe to speak, listen to one another, and rebuild themselves from the most intimate level.

With this conceptual framework, we reorganized the space to create different levels of intimacy and togetherness. The wood and glass partitions balance privacy with natural light, while the furniture, materials, and plants reinforce a warm, home-like atmosphere, deliberately moving away from a clinical aesthetic.

The result is a cohesive and bright space that reflects Vértigo Vida’s mission: to provide a place where people can begin to rebuild their lives.
